Hello! Today I have take two of "Things I Did Thursday!" I actually did quite a lot this week, but the things I finished are gifts, and I can't post them just yet...so this will be a short one.
First, I was doing some thinking about whether or not I need to make things for up coming fall/winter craft shows. As far as "do I have enough stock?" oh yes, I most certainly do. But on the other hand, shouldn't there be new things? Won't people want to see fresh items? Like hearing an opening band say "here's one from our new album" most people won't know new from old...but I do damnit! So new stuff I will make. Once I decided that, I figured I needed a cohesive color scheme. I worked for a couple of years for an apparel company, and we put out a list of colors for each seasons offerings. This seems to me, even at this smallest of levels, like a good way to get a stack of stuff that is unified and looks good together on a table. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the DarkHumorGirl Productions Fall/Winter 2015 color swatch!

Please disregard how scratched my craft table is...it gets used...it can't be helped. I hope to have a big ole pile of mitts, coozies, head warmers, and cowls out of this range by September!
These is a little something else I've been busying myself with lately. I've long been bothered by my inability to make a nice sign by hand, either in chalkboard or marker on paper, I'm just no good at it. It might be worth noting that the only subject I've ever gotten a "D" in is handwriting, but really, isn't it time I put the 4th grade behind me?? Anywho, I'm embarking on a mission to teach myself Hand Lettering. Its been a promising start if I do say so myself, so far I'm just makers on regular card stock, I'm sure if I get into it with fancy pens and paper I'll be even more enthused. Here is what I have made so far just by trying to copy what I've seen:
You might notice some 50% off signs there, for those of you local I do plan to have a 50% off basket at upcoming craft shows (only one on the books so far, keep an eye to the "Where to Find Me" page!). I will try to get sales up on my Etsy as well...I won't sell anything for more on there than I do in person, I just may not have all the cheapies up in the shop. As far as the lettering goes, I've been inspired by the ridiculous amount of professional wrestling the hubs and I have been watching to try to do some really homey versions of catch phrases...if I come up with any good ones I'll show you!
