Spectrum Slice Scarf-Pattern!

Its time!  Its finally time!  I have a pattern ready for your consumption!  My first written out and published pattern ready to move your hands in loopy motions!  But first, just a touch of back story!
Have you guys heard of Caron Cakes?  They came out of nowhere as a Michael's store exclusive and everyone lost their damn minds.  I wanted to be cool about it and not fall in love, but honestly, a big cake shaped mass of yarn with color changes...no one is that strong!  Its soft too, so that helps!  Right after the holidays Michael's had it on sale for $5 per cake and I knew it was a good time to stock up, I went in looking for the cream of the crop colorway: Rainbow Sprinkles!  Turns out I was the only one at my local Michael's with that goal in mind because whoa, it was pretty much all they had left!  I checked my impulses at 4...I have regrets.

The pattern that follows uses just shy of 1 of these bad boys, but save what's left because I made a companion pattern (going up in February) that will gladly take up the scraps left from this one!  And now, ladies and gentlemen...

If you are on Ravelry please give this new kid on the block a favorite and add it to your queue!  And if you make one I'd love to see photos!  I'd be so tickled to see one made in every colorway!

Also in pattern testing I made it in Bumbleberry and its so lovely!!

I love this pattern! I have a question about the second time I do row 1 (row 5). It says to dc in each st. Does that include the ch 1 space there, or will I just be dc in the dc stitch? Since row 3 specifically mentions going into the ch1 space, and this doesn't, I want to make sure.

Hi Jennifer! So glad to hear that you love the pattern! Yes the repeat of row 1 would include stitching in the chain one space, sorry for the confusion! I should revisit this and clarify it for others, thank you for calling it to my attention. I can't wait to see what you've made with the pattern!

Hi - I'm confused with row 4 instructions .... *ch1, sk 1, dc* ...
What do the * mean - is it to repeat until end of row?
Thanks a bunch, Elaine

Confused... Is there a way to obtain the number of stitches that you need by the time you get to row 4? Maybe it's just me, but have ripped it out and starting over...

Been looking for a pattern like this. It beautiful. Will start it when I finish the scarf I’m working on now. I like your color choice. Mine will just be from yarn I have upstairs. Purple and maroon. Will send a pic when it’s done. Thank you so much for it.
