Have you come rushing back to see my next project from my Hook The Book of Twinkie Chan's Crochet Goodies for Fashion Foodies? Well good...because I've got a new one for you! I'm just sort of jumping around the book at this point with no rhyme or reason...which I'm really starting to regret. I feel like it may have been easier to track my progress if I had gone in order. Oh well, too late now!! This week I bring you....The Popcorn Scarf!!
This pattern was really fun to make! I kind of like this process of working through all of each component at a time and then putting the whole she-bang together. Here is my pile of popcorn boxes!
You can also see my sticky note full of notes. I could only get this book as an ebook which I find harder to work from...but there didn't seem to be an option for a physical book at this time. I'm making do!
I did make a change to this scarf. The pattern called for cutting the word "Pop" out of felt and gluing that into each of the ovals on the boxes. That seemed like a bit of a nightmare to me. I thought maybe I would go with puff paint or something, but then I thought "maybe I can make a piece of popcorn!" I just did one standard popcorn stitch (a common stitch in crochet) and added 3 little "legs" to it and then stitched one of those in each medallion! I think it turned out pretty well, and definitely saved my sanity as far as cutting tiny letters out of felt and then not screwing them up as the glue dried or whatever! Oof!

As a reminder: I will not be selling the items from this project but I will consider donating them to charity and fundraising raffles and auctions.
I will post these projects here first so check back in with the blog to see which one I do next!

In addition to this project that is going well, let me also tell you how I am failing...I FINALLY set up and played around with my knitting machine...I am absolutely terrible at it! Maybe if I watch every available YouTube video on it I will get better and have some things to show you from it...I wouldn't hold my breath though! Apparently it is the way to go for Yarn Bombing which I've not tried yet but have wanted to give a go, so if I can get some rectangles out of it maybe something will come of it!
