This stack is just waiting on buttons and finishes! Also due to a tragic mimosa accident at the craft fair I had to get a new phone...today I learned a quirk of my new phone is sending photos as read only that I can't edit...they may be worse than usual until I can get that figured out! For the record I was not drunk, I was distracted by an old lady who was casually swiping a coozie (accidentally? maybe?) and the phone fell off something into the beverage!
Woo hoo! First craft show of the season under my belt! Friends of Shawnee Town Arts and Craft fair went really well. I had set out a couple of 50% off buckets and those were a real hit! Ultimately its not my favorite way to make money since its really losing money, but it got a lot of stuff out of my way and made room for newer, better things!
That's what the set up looked like. Debra and Erika (my disembodied heads) made it out to their first craft fair and I think they had a good time! They certainly were a hit with the crowd! I also got those new grates to hang things on! They are actually closet shelves from Lowe's and my hubs built me some fancy wooden feet to go on them! You can also kind of see my bunting showing everyone how fun we are!
I noticed a few trends in what people seemed to want. A few people asked for hats and beanies...I'm working on it, I'm not quite there yet with a pattern I like to make and can get to turn out right on a regular basis. Also people were gravitating toward the earwarmers with the flowers on them. I kind of thought those were over, but I see that I was wrong! I only had a couple of those left having moved mostly to the houndstooth pattern so I've been frantically working up a few more!
Finally the next craft show is October 3rd in Emporia at the Clint Bowyer center on the fair grounds! This will be my first time flying solo without my craft fair buddy, so if you're in the area please come say hi!

Hi!! It has been, and continues to be, an exciting week! It has not been the most productive week, but I did manage to get a few things done. The end of last week and the first of this week were spent on vacation! We went to Eureka Springs for an extended weekend. Such a relaxing and inspiring place filled with friendly and creative people! We love to just walk around and poke through the shops and enjoy all the weird wacky things this little town in an Ozark Mountain Valley has to offer!
That was the long and short of our weekend trip and we capped it off Monday with a trip to the Kansas State Fair! It seems like its harder to fit it in each year but I've never missed it! I won't regale you with my tales of fried food on sticks, but know that I enjoyed it! I would like to point out that the hand lettered signs at the KS State Fair are pretty much my gold standard as far as hand lettering goes. Here's an example:
Its just a sign for information and yet it manages to look interesting and impactful! Also, what's not to love about the phrase "Before Cooping In!"
I did get a few of my own projects worked on as well...take a look!
I lied a little bit, I'm not quite done. I'll be at the Shawnee Town Arts and Crafts Fair in Shawnee Kansas this Saturday from 9am to 4pm. Come see me!
I have very exciting news this week you guys! My wonderfully talented friend Lindsy revamped my logo for me! You'll begin to see it roll out across the various medias, but here is your "first look!"
I love that she let me keep the "super girl" that I drew years and years ago in Microsoft Paint! I am in no way a good draw-er but I've always liked that little bit that I made. I'm glad the text finally has a bit of personality and charm and the whole layout is soooo much better! Having friends with skills is the absolute best! I've already got a stamp ordered and I can't wait to get this on product tags and everywhere else!
On to things I actually did...I finished that jumpsuit I told you about last week! Here is the pattern I used. The fabric is a linen blend that I got at Joann's. Its a little heavy which I worry makes me look bigger, but its comfy at least! This was a super easy pattern, but I did have a hard time with the elastic at the waist, I think I didn't make the casing quite big enough and it got hung up in some places. This caused some fit issues with the top which I remedied on the back end. I thought the belt the pattern called for was too narrow so I just put on a belt I had around the house. I also think it looks super cute with my new B.A.I.T. shoes!
In real life I will like put a tank top under this for modesty and a sweater over it because I'm always cold! (as always, sorry for the sub par picture quality!)

Hello!! September has arrived, so it basically fall now...that means people will start to like crochet again! Yarn is just a hard sell in summer, which I totally get, but as the weather turns people finally start thinking about the needle arts again. Not me of course, I think about crochet all the time.
This week has had a little bit of excitement and a little bit of "too little too late" thinking. First, I had someone approach me via Etsy about doing a craft fair in Emporia, KS. This was very exciting, I've never had anyone bring a craft fair opportunity to me before! Its good to know that my Etsy is working. It feels like a constant uphill climb to get better at the photography and presentation of my things. That's all part of why I do any of this, I like the learning process of it and the marketing aspect, so someone noticing it feels like a real win! I will give you more details once the show is confirmed!
In "too little too late news" as it usually goes this time of year I have begun thinking hot and heavy about Halloween, and in the case of making things that people might want to buy for the occasion this is a bit late in the game. I have approximately 10,000 "creepy crochet" books (ok, 4) and countless patterns for skulls, ghosts, and monsters that I keep meaning to make and I just haven't done it. In my inbox this very morning I found a digital booklet of Halloween patterns and thought "I really ought to make this stuff, everyone I know loves creepy things! Perhaps I can throw together a few small ghouls before October hits...
But this is not what you came here for...you came to see what I've been working on this week! I've been trucking away on that pile of neons I showed you last week! Take a sneak peek!
I'm hoping to get these finished up and in the store over the weekend! I'll also be hoping to finish a super fly jumpsuit that I'm making myself (sewing not crochet, a crochet jumpsuit might be a bit much). I hit a frustrating sizing issue and tossed it across the room. I'm about ready to kiss and make up with it though...I'll need it before vacation next week I think!

I make a lot of stuff...I pretty much never stop making! Every Thursday I will post here about things I've made. It will be mostly crochet, but not entirely, and where I can I will include tutorials or links to how I figured out how to do things!
