In the interest of using up all my scrap ends of yarn I also made some pom poms with the remnants from the first batch of colors. No good idea of what I'll do with them yet. If I can keep them from becoming cat toys I'll be ahead of the game! Pro Tip: if you're looking to relieve stress and anxiety making yarn pom poms while watching What We Do In The Shadows is a very good way to do it!
Ahhhh, another Things I Did Thursday!! This week involved very little work of my own actually. I even began to get some rather intense anxiety which I'm at least partially attributing to the fact that I didn't touch yarn for so many days in a row! I was at the end of my color coordinated yarn pile that I had gotten to match the colors I'd picked out for the upcoming fall/winter. A coordinated theme, what a good idea right? ....Well...then I woke up Tuesday morning and said "Why don't I make all the same stuff I've been working on but in NEONS!!!!!!!" I love neons maybe more than your average person. If you can be a "fall" or a "winter" as far as what colors look best on and most appeal to you then I'm a "neon." The only thing to do was rush right out and buy a whole boat load of neon yarn to work up and to appease my inner late 80s pre-teen (do you think I could splatter paint it also? I'm down to try)! Boy neon never photos as bright as you want it to does it? I told myself I wouldn't get any variegated yarn because "its silly and you're the only one who likes it" but, as you can see, I did it anyway. It was also, of freaking course, the first one I had to use! Does my love of crazy color show?? I mean, variegated neon yarn makes me giddy...is that a sign of some sort of mental illness? I thought I'd temper it just a bit by keeping the brights with white and black. I may toss in some grey or neutral as well as I go along. Here is the first off the line! Hey! At least I'll have some stuff that appeals to children right?? Surely there are other adults out there who, like me, just need to have bright colors against their skin at all times right? In the interest of using up all my scrap ends of yarn I also made some pom poms with the remnants from the first batch of colors. No good idea of what I'll do with them yet. If I can keep them from becoming cat toys I'll be ahead of the game! Oh man! I was sick sick sick last week! I have not been spend-a-day-in-bed sick in a long time! I'm back on all cylinders this week though! For the past couple of weeks I've been getting ready for fall/winter 2015 sales! Right now I only have one lined up, but hopefully some more crop up! Here's a small sampling of things I've made! Please visit my Etsy shop to see everything I have so far! The fringe-y cowl you see there is a new item for me. They are inspired by a similar item my friend Kendra makes. She granted me permission to use the pattern as long as we aren't at the same sales...hopefully Etsy doesn't count! I tried to put my own spin on it by adding my own colors and using different materials. Kendra makes hers in beautiful neutrals and sport-y colors, make sure you check out her Etsy, Hooked by Kendra, as well! Please also allow me to introduce you to my new models! That's Debra above, and you'll see Erika below! They used to be hairdresser training heads but I've adopted them and saved them from a life as extras in horror movies, which would, admittedly, be pretty fun too! I'm really excited about the new colors and the new items! I can't wait to show them to you all in person!
You guys! I am so sick today that I didn't get a blog together! Ack! Stay tuned for next week!!! Hello! Hi! How are you?? Good? Good! Here's something you may or may not know about me...I'm a magpie when it comes to fabric. I keep all the little bits I find as though I'm going to do something with them someday. I'll buy packages of swatches and odds and ends at estate sales, yard sales, thrift stores, etc. Some time ago I discovered that at IKEA (I swear they don't pay me...but they probably should!) you can buy a bundle of swatches (I seem to be unable to link to it today, but trust me, its a thing!) of their interior design weight fabrics for $5! How could I resist this delightful item? As it turns out, for weeks (months?) I had no idea what to do with it! Finally I decided...BUNTING!! The process of it was pretty easy, I just cut out the triangles with pinking shears and then ran a zig zag stitch most of the way around them, leaving an opening to run a cord. For the cord I used some macrame yarn I had from when I thought I'd really enjoy macrame (hot tip: I don't!). Anyway, I just ran that cord through the tops and sewed the flags to it at about 6" apart...voila! Festive!! I'm not yet sure what I will use it for, perhaps it will add a nice touch to the craft booth! Finally, for anyone on the edge of their seats waiting to see my hand lettered wrestling catch phrases...I give you my imagining of "If Ravishing Rick Rude owned a laundromat in my neighborhood, what would the logo look like?": Currently Listening to: Gogol Bordello-Gypsy Punks: Underdog World Strike (via: All of my albums in alphabetical order!)

AuthorI make a lot of stuff...I pretty much never stop making! Every Thursday I will post here about things I've made. It will be mostly crochet, but not entirely, and where I can I will include tutorials or links to how I figured out how to do things! Archives
